Summer Employment

Every summer YNOT holds a Summer Camp for Kids. We offer an affordable solution to ensure that they spend some constructive time with other youth, take day trips to interesting places and to stay out of trouble. Our camp is a place where youth can gather, have fun and find new friends in our action packed SUMMER CAMP.

Students:
Do you want to be part of fun team this summer? Are you currently enrolled in children’s studies, social work or are you contemplating law? We currently have an opportunity for a Summer Camp Co-ordinator, as well for camp staff.

Last year some of our field trips included:

  1. Ontario Science Centre,
  2. Royal Ontario Museum,
  3. CN Tower,
  4. Black Creek Pioneer Village
  5. and more.

Duties and Responsibilities of Teen Summer Camp Co-Ordinator:

  1. Understand program guidelines and procedures
  2. Implement outreach activities and communication strategies
  3. Be responsible for keeping attendance records
  4. Collect and file all forms (i.e. safety, incident, damage, medical, application and consent forms)
  5. Provide statistics for activities and reporting to the Executive Director
  6. Monitor budget, including petty cash
  7. Arrange refreshment and transportation for participants
  8. Conduct evaluations, analysis and reporting
  9. Ensure facilities and equipment are maintained and kept in acceptable, safe condition
  10. Wear staff uniform and be neat and tidy in appearance.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  1. Take the lead role in coordinating all training and orientation sessions for summer camp staff
  2. Develop and schedule the camp activities and programs based on program outline approved by the Board of Directors
  3. Coordinate and plan weekly off-site trips and special guests required, while maintaining a budget
  4. Coordinate and schedule transportation for all trips
  5. In cooperation with other staff, plan and implement special events including relating promotion and public relations
  6. Advise staff of these events and their roles. These events will include fundraising and other special events
  7. Develop everyday programs and activities.

Leadership Skills:

  1. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and able to communicate both in the written word and language
  2. Be able to work independently or a good team player
  3. Review, approve and submit time sheet for all staff
  4. Schedule teen summer staff hours
  5. Ensure that the Teen Summer Camp program guidelines and procedures are adhered to
  6. Submit a final written evaluation of the program

Educational Requirements:

  1. Minimum of two years supervisory experience in a camp setting
  2. Applicant should be pursuing a degree/diploma in social services, leisure studies, recreation or child development or a related career
